Fun in the Sun: 5 Outdoor Activities to Do with Your Dog This Summer – The Dog Blog

The summer can fly by, but there’s still time to take advantage of the warm days we have left. There are plenty of ways that you can have some fun in the sun with your best friend. Whether it’s just you and your pooch or you decide to grab a few friends, everyone can enjoy outdoors! Here are five outdoor activities for you and your dog to enjoy.

Go to a Park or Beach

Dog parks and beaches are great ways to enjoy sunny afternoons and allow interaction with other dogs. Use Google to search for “dog parks near me” and pick out the best one for you and your dog. Socializing your best friend with other dogs, especially as a young puppy, can help her become more comfortable around other dogs and people.

Dog friendly beaches can also be a lot of fun. Whether you lie in the sand or go for a dip in the water, you and your best friend can enjoy the beach together. Pet Friendly Travel can help you find a dog-friendly beach near you.

Enjoy the Water

The beach isn’t the only place where your dog can have fun in the water. Cool down your best friend with a doggie pool, sprinkler, nearby pond, or some other safe place. Not only does the water help cool your dog down, a good swim is also one of the most exhilarating and adventurous experiences for a dog! This way your furry friend can have a blast while you protect her from over-heating with the hot summer temperatures – just make sure that you and your dog brush up on these water safety tips before you go for a swim.

Dine Out

Do you ever notice dogs hanging around your favorite restaurant’s outdoor patio on nice summer evenings? There are many different restaurants that have dog-friendly seating outside – the servers may even bring out fresh water to help dogs stay hydrated. It’s not always easy to find time to go out to dinner, but finding a spot where dogs are welcome gives you another fun summer activity to try! We suggest calling your favorite restaurant to ask if they allow dogs! If they do, just take a look at these five patio etiquette tips for dogs and the two of you will be in store for a lovely evening.

Bark in the Park

One fun summer activity for you and your dog is to take her out to a ballgame! Many baseball teams host “Bark in the Park” events for you and your best friend. Bark in the Park is a night for you to bring your best friend up to the stadium to watch a game! Look up your local major/minor league teams and check out their summer events. Just remember, you’ll need to bring proof that your dog is up to date on vaccinations to be admitted.

Start a Walking Group

Does walking around the block or local park with your dog seem to be getting old? Maybe you need to change up your normal route, or better yet, invite some people you know. You can coordinate schedules with friends or send out fliers in the neighborhood. Whether it’s one or seven days a week, finding others around you is a great way for you and your best friend to make new friends!

Fall and winter will be here before you know it. Give one of these fun activities a try – something tells us they’ll keep your dog smiling! After all, keeping our best friends happy and healthy is the best thing we can do for them!
